VIDEO: Behind the scenes and winning speech of Remco Evenepoel after Liège-Bastogne-Liège win

Remco Evenepoel has surged triumphantly to win Liège-Bastogne-Liège this Sunday, a victory that has been the highlight of his season so far. In the rainbow stripes he managed to defend his title and Soudal - Quick-Step have made a video with a lot of behind-the-scenes footage from the days leading up and the race itself.

The video shows Evenepoel training in the days leading up to La Doyenne and doing a recon of the Côte de la Redoute where he broke the race apart later on. He took a dominant solo win in Liège and the video includes close footage of the moments after he crossed the finish line, with his teammates and on the podium.

In a victory speech Evenepoel had a lot of appreciation to hand out for the team. "First of all... These guys I think everybody saw today what they did it was pretty special. From the start to La Redoute with the two guys who had a bad memory of last year. I think it's a big chapeau for them because with these bad memories it's not easy, I can also speak from my experience in Lombardia, it's not easy to return to a race where you had a big crash so thank you very much for this big effort."

"We had a big plan, not an easy plan going on La Redoute in the wet, almost went wrong, almost went wrong with a small slip but luckily Ilan [van Wilder] was still there to push me so I think it's a victory thanks to you guys. And also everybody who works here as usual also has a small piece... A big piece of course of the victory. So thank you everybody, let's keep going!" he concluded.
