Urska Zigart on Tadej Pogacar: "To be able to wear the rainbow jersey is confirmation that he would be the best cyclist in the world"

The elite men's road race of the Zurich 2024 World Championship is already in contention. Tadej Pogacar is the big favorite to win the rainbow jersey in a race with a huge star-studded line-up, including his compatriot Primoz Roglic, and the other two big favorites: Remco Evenepoel and defending champion Mathieu van der Poel.

Although it's one of the few things he has yet to win in his career (even though he's only 26 years old), Pogacar feels fully confident about his chances today. At least that's the feeling the UAE Team Emirates star is giving off after the latest revelation from his fiancée Urska Zigart.

"It's something he has left in his palmares, it's something he wants to achieve," Zigart begins. "To be able to wear the rainbow jersey is confirmation that he would be the best cyclist in the world. He's still calm, he missed his first alarm this morning and I had to wake him up to get up."

It is normal for Tadej Pogacar to feel fully confident about today's race, to the point of having been able to sleep well without being betrayed by nerves. The Slovenian is coming off a completely historic season, with the Giro d'Italia - Tour de France double as the main milestone, the first to do so since Marco Pantani in 1998.

But in addition, his victory in the GP de Montréal, with such superiority over all his rivals, sees him arrive with very strong legs. Pogacar used the Canadian World Tour classics as his main preparation for a World Championships that favors riders like him.
