UCI Team Rankings Update | Lidl-Trek fly through the competition, Uno-X and Astana begin to put Picnic PostNL under serious pressure

In a week where the UCI announced that there would be 1 extra wildcard for all Grand Tours, it is terrific news for ProTeams. Still, a battle for the World Tour licenses remains, and in a weekend where a few important races have finished there are certainly some moves in the standings.
You can check the previous update. Whilst UAE Team Emirates - XRG have scored over 1000 points in this update, much due to Juan Ayuso's performances at the Volta a Catalunya, it is Lidl-Trek who really took the rankings by storm climbing a few positions into 2nd best in the year after Mads Pedersen and Jonathan Milan struck gold during the Belgian classics, each having two podiums - whilst Pedersen won Gent Wevelgem dominantly. They have added over 1750 points.
Cofidis slightly increased their lead over Team Picnic PostNL, still small but now 163 points to be exact. Behind, Uno-X Mobility are already within 2000 points of the World Tour after Alexander Kristoff's strong Gent Wevelgem. The Norwegian team is around 200 points ahead of the XDS Astana Team who have hit a plateau in terms of point scoring. However, both teams have increased their lead to Arkéa - B&B Hotels who are more and more in a position of hopelessness when it comes to surviving in the sport's top division.

- Exactly, that easily makes for a minute at the front. You don’t see Pog cracking often either (less often than MVDP even) but when he does it’s lights out and over too. This is completely normal and to be expected, at the level of competitiveness all these guys are they only crack once they’ve pushed beyond their manageable limit and there’s no coming back from that. When your rival forces you into the red to keep or catch up, it’s over, in that respect, well done to WVA who seems to be world champion in staying just outside the red for as long as he can.Mistermaumau08-04-2025

- Tricky one as while I agree Pogi and UAE are simply faster over a long distance which means Visma and MVP need to be as smart with energy use as can, it's also been proven in the past that one way for Pogi to be beaten is relentless attacks, to put him into the red. - The other issue is that Mad Petersen and Wout would have let MVDP do most of the work, as he kept showing he was stronger. MVDP did the strategy with the highest likelihood of victory, he just wasn't strong enough.acem8207-04-2025
