This week's update features points scored in two of the most prestigious World Tour stage races: Paris-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico.
You can check the previous UCI Rankings update here. There have been substantial changes in the leaderboard, although that was not the case on top. UAE Team Emirates - XRG remains firmly in control, holding an advantage of around 2500 points to the second place.
The Emirati squad added 900 points to its tally during the week, and Isaac del Toro was the main protagonist. The Mexican rider had already started his season in style, winning the UAE Tour back in February, and he was the big favourite to secure the Tirreno-Adriatico GC. No sooner said than done, del Toro dominated the competition and claimed the trident, earning over 650 points for both the GC and a stage win.
Thus, the Mexican himself got more than two third of all the points his team obtained throughout the week. His teammates, on the other hand, were not as strong at Paris-Nice. Brandon McNulty was the man for the GC on paper, but a nasty crash in stage 4 that affected several other riders such as Juan Ayuso forced him to abandon. Nonetheless, Marc Soler stepped up and secured a decent sixth place on the GC, getting 175 points.
The second place has changed, as XDS Astana is no longer UAE's immediate chaser, but Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe. The German squad had excellent performances in both races, despite not winning any stage, obtaining over 1300 weekly points. They are the only team other than UAE to have broken the 4000-point barrier.
In Italy, Giulio Pellizzari made it to the podium even if the initial plan was for him to work for Primoz Roglic. The Slovenian also had a solid performance, although it was always clear he did not have the legs to fight for the overall win. The two men combined got almost 700 points.

Meanwhile in France, Daniel Felipe Martínez was Jonas Vingegaard's biggest rival, finishing in second position. His podium was seriously in doubt after suffering an unlucky crash during the final stage caused by his teammate Laurence Pithie, but the Colombian rider managed to reach the finish line on time. He contributed with more than 450 points to the team's tally.
XDS Astana Team lost one spot and is now third, although the week was highly successful for the Kazakh squad, especially in France. There, they secured not just one but two stage wins, thanks to Max Kanter's powerful sprint at stage 2 and Harold Tejada's late attack to win solo at stage 6. The Colombian rider also secured a ninth place on the GC.
Behind Astana we find Team Visma | Lease a Bike, which jumped all the way from seventh to fourth. The Bees had an outstanding week, making it to the podium in both races. In France, Jonas Vingegaard was the biggest favourite to take the win alongside Juan Ayuso. However, Ayuso's abandon made Vingegaard the sole favorite, and he proved why he is one of the best climbers in the peloton. He got two stage wins plus the GC, amassing over 700 points all by himself.
In Italy, Matteo Jorgenson was given the task to fight for the GC, and he fulfilled the expectations, finishing in second place. The American could not defeat Del Toro, but a perfectly time attack during the last stage was enough for him to grab 3 decisive bonus seconds, allowing him to to overtake Pellizzari. His trip to Italy gave Visma 460 total points.
