Paul Double sealed both stage victory and overall glory on the final day of the
Tour of Slovakia, delivering a career-defining performance for
Team Jayco AlUla. The British rider, who joined the WorldTour outfit this season, proved the strongest on the decisive climbs and finished off the job with a solo win in Považská Bystrica.
Double accelerated in the closing kilometre, breaking clear from a select group after Team Visma | Lease a Bike had controlled much of the stage. Bart Lemmen and Thomas Gloag tried to respond, but Double held firm, crossing the line 31 seconds clear of Lemmen, with Gloag settling for third at 34 seconds. Felix Engelhardt followed in fourth, ensuring Jayco AlUla had two riders in the day’s top four.
The result confirmed Double as the overall winner of the 2025 Tour of Slovakia, his first general classification triumph as a professional. He ended the five-day race with a margin of 33 seconds over Lemmen, while Gloag completed the podium just two seconds further back. Engelhardt placed fourth overall, with Cian Uijtdebroeks in fifth as Visma stacked the top ten.
It marked Double’s third career victory and arguably his most significant to date, capping a steady rise from the continental ranks to the World Tour. For Jayco AlUla, it was a triumphant conclusion to the Slovakian race, showcasing depth and tactical sharpness against a dominant Visma presence.
