Einer Rubio finished 11th in 2023 and 7th in 2024 at the
Giro d'Italia. In 2025 he has very clear ideas and wants to improve those positions. Thus, the
Movistar Team leader made it clear to the team's media before the start of the race in Albania what his goal is this year.
"I've been more than a month at altitude in Colombia, we have the experience of the past years, especially last year which was very good, we come with energy, with everything prepared, with the goal of a top 5 overall. I believe that with the team we have we can achieve it".
He makes it clear that the first 2 weeks do not seem to suit him too well and that he will wait for the high mountains of the last week to try to perform at the highest level, as has happened in the past too.
"It's a strange start to the Giro in Albania, let's hope we get through it without any mishaps, then in Italy we'll go little by little towards our terrain, towards the mountains, that last week which in the Giro is always very very hard, I think we'll arrive in good condition."
Obviously the most difficult aspect towards his overall ambitions are the two time-trials in the race where he hopes to minimize the damage as much as possible:
"More than everything will be decided there without forgetting the two time trials of the Giro, Saturday's 13 kilometers and the other a little longer, we'll see how we pass the day, we know it's not a point in our favor. We'll try to pass it and then comes the mountains, which is our terrain".
Movistar Team arrives with a team focused on the mountains this year without Fernando Gaviria and the Colombian will have the sure support of his compatriot Nairo Quintana to lend him a hand on the important days of the race.
