Remco Evenepoel, as the reigning Olympic and World Champion, will look to add to his current palmarès the third most important title in pro cycling in the discipline, one he has conquered in the past which are the European stripes. He is Belgium's best hope but realistically Alec Segaert also provides a very strong card to play for another top result. Jonas Vingegaard,
Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic are all absent from the race, and in a mostly flat course it will be the specialists who will make life hard for Evenepoel.
The defending champion Edoardo Affini will surprisingly not be present but the Italians don't come without a plan as after skipping the worlds,
Filippo Ganna will be keen on conquering the European Championships and has Lorenzo Milesi as a back up.
João Almeida will be a strong climber-focused option, whilst the likes of Stefan Küng, Stefan Bissegger, Mads Pedersen, Mathias Vacek, Daan Hoole, Ethan Hayter and most importantly the British powerhouse Joshua Tarling will be aiming to win this race against the world's best.
