UCI points are closely tracked by teams, specially as this year there were promotions and relegations based off a difference of just a few points. When it comes to riders there is also always interest, although
Tadej Pogacar takes the top of the charts without any challenger... But what if the UCI rankings were ranked by nations? Would the outcome be the same for Slovenia, or are there countries above the small European nation.
The answer is yes. The margin is not huge, but at the top of the charts is Belgium, one of cycling's cornerstones and the base for the spring classics. ProCyclingStats has ordered countries and made the total of its Top8 point-scoring riders in 2025, which favours the countries with less depth. But nevertheless at the top is a country that has the most depth out of the Top3. Belgium had
Remco Evenepoel as its top scorer this year despite his difficult start to the season, but the presence of countless top sprinters and classics riders such as Wout van Aert, Arnaud de Lie, Jasper Philipsen, Tim Merlier and Tim Wellens has boosted the country towards the top of this chart.
The difference to Denmark however is rather small, as the northern European nation benefits of two great leaders who have finished the season very close to the top: Mads Pedersen and
Jonas Vingegaard. The two have scored over 1.000 points just by themselves, whilst the country also benefited from the presence of riders such as Mattias Skjelmose and Tobias Lund Andresen scoring big points.
And Slovenia only sits in third place, but not overly close to the Top2. Pogacar was the year's top rider, that has never been put to question, but the points he scored weren't enough to compensate for the rest of the country in this specific circumstance. Slovenia does come away from the year with the reigning World and European titles, but besides Pogacar, only Primoz Roglic scored any meaningful points. The country does have Matej Mohoric and upcoming talent Jakob Omrzel in its ranks, so potentially next year they could bounce back to take the 'title'.
Just outside the podium are Italy, Great Britain and France, with a point difference that is actually rather small and insignificant - which could've been closed off with the addition of one more top rider. Australia, Netherlands, United States of America and Spain complete the Top10, with a large gap to the countries that follow.
