Simon Yates returns to Tour de France; Team Jayco AlUla splitting leaders between Grand Tours

Team Jayco AlUla are having Simon Yates and Luke Plapp as two of their leaders for the Tour Down Under. However throughout the season they will follow different paths, as it become more evident that the Briton is set to return to the Tour de France.

Plapp had stated over the last few weeks that he'd have a big goal in the Australian block of racing - with the national champions and Tour Down Under on the menu - the Giro d'Italia and the Olympic Games. He, Eddie Dunbar and most likely Filippo Zana will race the Giro d'Italia, trying to replicate a very successful stint in 2023.

Whilst Simon Yates, who rode a brilliant Tour de France into fourth place, will also be making a return - to an edition where mountains will be supreme once again. Gazzetta dello Sport reports that according to sources, this is the plan on the table.

Alongside them, Caleb Ewan should aim for victories in the sprints of the Giro d'Italia whilst Dylan Groenewegen will likely get the opportunity to lead the sprinter block at the Grand Boucle.
