Simon Yates and Dylan Groenewegen headline Team Jayco AlUla ambitions at Tour de France

Simon Yates has set his sights at the Tour de France and he's headlining Team Jayco AlUla's lineup alongside Dylan Groenewegen. It is a team suited to take stage wins although it could also see the Briton fight for the overall classification.

Yates rode to second at the Tour Down Under and fourth at Paris-Nice earlier in the year, he has not raced since the Tour de Romandie and will take an approach to the Tour similar to that of Primoz Roglic to the Giro d'Italia. However the Australian team is not built around him, only Chris Harper will be present to support him in the mountains.

“I am really looking forward to taking this team on the road at the TDF. Our two leaders, Simon Yates and Dylan Groenewegen, have both been very successful at the TDF in the past," DS Matthew Hayman stated in the press release. "To support them we have Chris Harper, who is new to the team this year and is lining up for his debut TDF, and will be there for Simon in the mountains. Dylan’s trusted lead-out man in Luka Mezgec and fellow Dutch rider Elmar Reinders."

The main focus will be the sprints where Dylan Groenewegen wil get his leadout present. Luka Mezgec, Elmard Reinders, Luke Durbridge and Christopher Juul-Jensen will have a crucial role on the flat days, whilst Lawson Craddock should both help with the leadouts and also chase stage wins in hilly days.

Team Jayco AlUla for Tour de France:

Lawson Craddock, Luke Durbridge, Dylan Groenewegen, Chris Harper, Christopher Juul-Jensen, Luka Mezgec, Elmar Reinders and Simon Yates.
