Richard Carapaz withdraws from Itzulia Basque Country following allergic reaction

EF Education EasyPost's Richard Carapaz has been forced to withdraw from the Itzulia Basque Country after suffering with allergies over the past few days.
Although Carapaz had slipped down in the general classification he and teammates Esteban Chaves and Rigoberto Uran have consistently looked to be attacking and had been threatening a potential stage win. Now though the Colombian duo will be without their Ecuadorian national champion teammate for today's Queen stage.
With today's sixth and final stage of the Itzulia Basque Country set to be a dramatic general classification battle and Rigoberto Uran sits just 50 seconds behind race leader Jonas Vingegaard in twelfth position overall with Chaves 1:57 behind the Dane in twenty-first.

- He actually took a pay cut when transferred to Visma; he was the star at Jayco for years, he moved because a different team structure could improve his chances and they both got the benefits of the transaction.
