Aaron Dockx celebrating his win at the 2026 men's under-23 cyclocross World Championships
The cyclocross World Championships in Hulst are under way and today the first big event of the day was the men's under-23 race. Here there was a surprise as the Dutch could only manage a bronze medal at best, and it was Belgium's Aaron Dockx who took the rainbow jersey.
The circuit in Hulst was very technical and a race where team dynamics weren't going to be playing a role. Aaron Dockx experienced a very hard day in Hoogerheide last weekend and finished 26th on the day, and so it was a big turn of the tables when the Alpecin - Premier Tech put himself forward on the day and rode to victory - after finishing 22nd and 19th in the previous two years. It was only his first win of the season, surprisingly.
Aubin Sparfel finished second whilst Keije Solen provided the Netherlands' sole medal. Amongst those who finished behind were Léo Bisiaux who was eighth on the day but the big disappointment was World Cup winner David Haverdings, the Netherlands' top card, who could only manage 14th on the day.
