The calendar in cycling grows every year and there are virtually no empty spots remaining. Developing a new race and maintaining it at the highest level is a very difficult task, but one that appears to be in the workings between Israel, UAE and Bahrain who look to create a new race into 2024 which hopes to lure many of the world's best.
The report has been conducted by Cyclingnews, who have intel on the creation of this new non-World Tour event into 2024. Whilst not World Tour, this would certainly be a goal in the future, the race is said to be termed 'Peace Race' and feature racing in the Middle East, on these three nations but also possible Saudi Arabia who has been raising it's investment in cycling and is equally looking to lure sports figures - as is the case with football.
The new come as a surprise, taking into consideration the nature of the event which would take place over different countries, with Israel not sharing a border with the other two leading to a natural logistic problem. The race, which is said to have Israel - Premier Tech's Sylvan Adams as an organizer, immediately caught mixed reactions from fans arguing the irony of the race's name, as well as the topic of sportswashing.
Nevertheless, there are high chances that the project will move forward, and that it's intent is to be placed in October following the end of all World Tour events, and combining the sporting aspect also with the UCI Gala awards. More news on the event are likely to come through over the coming months.
