Remco Evenepoel unveils calendar for the remainder of 2025: Can he sign off from Soudal – Quick-Step with glory?

Remco Evenepoel’s final months in Soudal – Quick-Step colours are now mapped out. After a turbulent 2025 season that included a torrid second week at the Tour de France despite an earlier victory, the Belgian superstar will close his time with the Wolfpack in a packed run of prestigious races before joining Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe in 2026.

Following a period of rest after leaving the Tour, Evenepoel resumed training this week. His return will come at the Tour of Britain (September 2–7), a race that offers him the chance to build form and sharpen race rhythm. It is the first step in a farewell calendar designed to prepare him for a chance to add more rainbow jersey’s to his current collection of 3.

From Britain, he will fly to Rwanda for the World Championships in Kigali. On September 21, he will defend his rainbow jersey in the time trial, aiming for a third consecutive world title in the discipline, although it must be said that the course features more climbing than usual. One week later, he will contest the road race in the same city. The Worlds will be followed by the European Championships in France, where he will race both the time trial (October 1) and road race (October 5). His final appearance for Soudal – Quick-Step will be at Il Lombardia on October 11, one of cycling’s five monuments., and where he finished second last year.

This is more than just a closing calendar, it’s the end of a defining chapter in Belgian cycling. Evenepoel turned pro with Quick-Step in 2019 and has since delivered a Vuelta a España title, multiple monuments, and world championships on both road and in the time trial. Yet his departure has been inevitable since it became clear the team could not match UAE Team Emirates or Visma for Grand Tour depth. Quick-Step’s €30 million budget simply could not support the climbing squad needed to take on Pogacar and Vingegaard.

The transfer to Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe is the culmination of a long pursuit by team boss Ralph Denk. The German outfit, newly backed by Red Bull, now has the financial power to rival cycling’s biggest operations and the ambition to build a Tour-winning roster around Evenepoel. His final months with Quick-Step will be about adding to his palmarès, but also about saying goodbye to the team where he turned professional and became a global star.
