Remco Evenepoel is excited for upcoming two stages which "promise to be a spectacular event" as one final all-out attack from Visma is expected

Everybody is keenly awaiting Visma | Lease a Bike's final attempt to steal Tadej Pogacar's yellow jersey from Friday onwards. However third place Remco Evenepoel points out that the Slovenian, who lives in Monaco, will have an advantage of home roads, which might come handy especially on Friday.

"I think Tadej knows Friday's stage well, because Monaco is not that far from here," Evenepoel told WielerFlits after Thursday's stage. "He also did an altitude training in Isola 2000. But tomorrow is the day with all the climbs of almost an hour. We have to see, I can hardly predict. Maybe it won't be tomorrow and the day after, or the other way around. It could go either way, but in any case it promises to be a spectacular two-day event."

Evenepoel is currently third in the general classification. He is more than five minutes behind Pogacar, but Jonas Vingegaard's second place may still be within reach depending on how the three remaining stages play out. The difference between the Belgian and the Dane is one minute and 58 seconds, however in last stages, it was the younger of the two who gave a better impression.

Evenepoel does not have to look back either, because number four Joao Almeida is more than 8 minutes further in the standings and even if Remco were to fall through the rankings, teammate Mikel Landa (currently fifth) could still replace him on the final podium in Nice.
