Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe shows interest in Remco Evenepoel's important domestique

Mattia Cattaneo will be one of the protagonists of the 2026 Cycling Market. After spending the last six seasons at Soudal - Quick-Step the Italian is currently without a contract for next season and, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, has already attracted the attention of several WorldTour teams.
According to the latest rumors reported by Gazzetta, there are three teams that have shown the greatest interest in the 1990-born rider, suggesting that it will be a struggle to convince him to choose a specific team for the future of his career.
First of all, Soudal - Quick-Step is definitely interested to keep the strong timetrialist and climber on board for year(s) to come, seeing how he has become a reliable support piece for Remco Evenepoel. Not just that - Cattaneo can also deliver decent results himself like he proved at the recent Tirreno-Adriatico when he snuck into the final top-10 of general classification.
In the other corner, Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe and Movistar will try to convince the 34-year-old to change colours in 2026. The two teams are currently in the front running for Cattaneo's services, although definitely not the only ones. There are still several months until August and some teams will definitely need to accept some loses, bringing them to Cattaneo's door.

- I agree, this article is silly. Pogacar won that TdF because he was stronger than Roglic on the time trial not because he was unknown. Each rider has their own strengths and ride to those. - Yes, I think he still has a lot to say in road cycling. In the CX races he showed a very good gear but... the problem was essentially his NERVOUSNESS then he took bad decisions in finding the best strategies and paths. He needs confidence (calm down) and maybe a very good preparation gave him that.
maria2024202425-03-2025 - I don't believe so sadly, much as pulling another rider into that group I think Tadej and MVDP have raised the game so far they are essentially untouchable. The spoils of this season will be split between them, I believe Tadej will take RVV, LBL and Lombardia, MVDP MSR and Roubaix. I'm not even sure Remco will be at their level when he comes back.
