Preview. From the 18th to the 21st of May the women's peloton are back on the road in Spain with another World Tour event. It's the
Vuelta a Burgos Feminas, the final race of the very intense block of stage-racing this month.
Stage 1 will see the riders head into Medina de Pomar. It's a 115-kilometer stage which is the most likely regular bunch sprint. Stage 2 is a relatively hilly day, but a bunch sprint is to expect. However, whilst the profile barely shows it, the finale into Lerma is anything but flat, it is a small town finish in the middle of a village where positioning and explosivity will be everything.
The third day of racing isn't too different. A bunch sprint is virtually impossible to be prevented, however the sprint into Aranda de Duero will have some uphill gradients which will make a meaningful difference into the line. The best is saved for last, the most famous climb in the region will see the ending to the race. It's a day with 121 kilometers on the menu which end at the Lagunas de Neila, the ascent is 12 kilometers long at over 6%, whilst the final three kilometers average almost 10% average gradient.
