Preview stage 7a. From the 20th to the 27th of August takes place the Tour de l'Avenir. More commonly known as the under-23 Tour de France, the race will see 9 stages throughout France where the best U23 riders of all specialties will come together to reveal many of the stars of the future.
The first stage of a day that will feature two. Both are very hard and very important for the overall classification. Stage 7a will be a mountain time-trial up Les Karellis. 11.1 kilometers at 8%, a true test for the pure climbers and a great day for measuring the climbing ability of the under-23 field, riders who will soon take over the World Tour.

His interviews include leading riders, team managers, and prominent figures within cycling media: Tadej Pogacar, Jonas Vingegaard, Mathieu van der Poel, Primoz Roglic, Wout van Aert, Joao Almeida and Tom Pidcock; managers like Patrick Lefevere and Joxean Matxin; and YouTube personality Bryan Kennedy (BKXC)...
Within 18 months of launch, he helped grow CyclingUpToDate’s English-language platform into one of the most-read cycling news websites, built entirely from the ground up. As both a professional journalist and lifelong cycling enthusiast, his focus remains on delivering accurate, timely, and well-contextualized coverage.

Whilst I can entertain what you’re arguing, writing off IDT’s inability to follow Pidcock purely as IDT being "gassed" ignores the complex tactical chess match happening on the road. IDT’s body language, in the final kms, showed plenty of hesitation, tactical marking, and looking around. With the addition of the WC pitting teammates against each other, there were several moments that indicated his behaviour was a calculated refusal to destroy McNulty’s, and by that extension, UAE’s chances of maintaining their hold on the rainbow stripes. - I guess the president is very happy to see one American win in Canada. Leave the president and politicians aside the sports. Was a great victory from a very smart move in the right moment. Quick Step won a lot of classics like this. Having numbers. Del Toro also played some part. Going to blame him? Thats a great friend. Also don't forget McNulty last time in Montreal. - @MrMauMau: at the moment that McNulty took off, del Toro had Seixas on his wheel. Later on, was he able to follow Pidcock as he linked up to and passed Ciccone? He was not. That tells me what I need to know - he was gassed and couldn't follow. Maybe he had less reason because of team politics, but it can't have all been politics.RidesHills30-09-2026

- This is all very Hornery. The vast majority gave VDP little chance on this circuit that most said favoured the climbing duo. This was probably also quite a widespread theoretical calculation amongst riders and teams but the facts of racing are that each race is determined by how each rider reacts towards precalculated expectations until the scenario changes, and then, without radio and with so much chopping and changing, good luck to get any strategy going well before someone else messes yours up again. Sometimes it seems like some think riders have their strength on the day visible on their helmet so others can automatically know which is the best strategy to adopt to beat them.Mistermaumau30-09-2026
