Preview. On the 25th of July begins the final block of Spanish racing of the year. The Prueba Villafranca is the first high-level race that begins after the end of the Tour de France and is the first of many local races taking place in the week of the Clásica San Sebastián.
The 186-kilometer race will be guided towards the puncheurs and climbers and is a warm-up to the Basque classic. Around the city of Ordizia the peloton will ride a circuit throughout the day, riding five times a 3.1-kilometer climb at 7.3%. The two final laps will also feature a 2.8-kilometer climb at 5.2%, the two will see the race split before the flat finale where a lot can be expected.
