Another Covid-19 case has been identified in the peloton, as Cofidis loose an important piece in Bryan Coquard. The Frenchman had been preparing for the Tour where he'd be the team's sprinter, specially in the harder sprint stages, but will have to wait another year to come back.
Coquard is the winner of two stages earlier in the year at Etoile de Bessèges and Tour de la Provence. He had recently finished second in a stage of the Tour de Suisse, and was pointing towards success at the Tour. Max Walscheid will now be the team's sprinter, although the team lacks a leadout to provide support for the German in these stages.
Pierre-Luc Périchon took the place of Bryan Coquard in the lineup, providing further possibilities for the hilly stages aswell as support for the likes of Guillaume Martin and Ion Izagirre who will attempt to take stage wins in the mountains.
