As his career progresses, Tadej Pogacar continues to add reputable titles to his palmarès. This spring he has won Milano-Sanremo and the Tour de Romandie for the first time. Whilst he continues to rack up the quality wins, he also intends on diversifying his palmarès with as many World Tour stage races as possible, perhaps as a new source of motivation.
Pogacar has continued participating and winning races such as Strade Bianche, Tour of Flanders and Liège-Bastogne-Liège, effectively not sacrificing any of his main goals for the spring. He added Romandie to his schedule and has won it this weekend, leaving him with his first GC win of the year, in what was his debut in the Swiss race.
He will return to Switzerland in June to compete in the Tour de Suisse, one of the final two 'big 7' World Tour stage-races. He will be the absolute favourite to win it; and if he does it, Itzulia Basque Country will become the only one left - however, its clash with Paris-Roubaix makes it a hard choice.
Pogacar has conquered the European Championships last year which have been added to his world titles; but the Olympic title is another big goal for him, one that can only be chased in 2028 however. But for a rider of such quality, albeit unknown longevity in the peloton, it is possible to embark on different schedules yearly to extend his palmarès.

New races can become goals for Tadej Pogacar

After winning Romandie this Sunday, he admitted that is a goal. “The WorldTour contains even more stage races than that," Pogacar said to Het Laatste Nieuws. "I also won the UAE Tour, but there are still the Tour Down Under, the Tour of Poland, the Tour of Guangxi and what is that called again? ‘The Tim Wellens Race’ (Renewi Tour, ed.).
By all logic, he would be able to win all of them. He had already been rumoured to race this year's Down Under, which may in 2027 pop up again as a possible season starter. The Renewi Tour and Tour de Pologne come right after the Tour de France, making it a difficult fit if he is to focus on the Vuelta a España or World Championships; Whilst the Tour of Guangxi is also a very viable option if the World Champion is willing to make the trip to China in October.
With a contract currently lasting all the way into 2030, there is plenty of time for the Slovenian to add titles to his list, but as the years go by new rivals will certainly show up. That is already now the case with Paul Seixas, who was announced to race the Tour de France for the first time this summer.
“So there is still some way to go. Just like in the classic one-day races and the Grand Tours. One by one. And see how far I can come,” he concluded.
