OFFICIAL: Filippo Ganna abandons the 2025 Tour de France after stage 1 crash

Stage 1 of the Tour de France is always a nervy and tense affair in the peloton. As is often the case when the nerves are high, it hasn't taken long for a crash to rock the bunch. The first riders to hit the deck at the 2025 Tour de France? Filippo Ganna and Sean Flynn.
Building up to the first real crosswinds section of the day, the tension levels were rising in the peloton as riders and teams fought for position at the front. Sadly for the Italian powerhouse of INEOS Grenadiers Ganna and British star Flynn, both were victims of this fight as round a righthand bend, both were knocked to the ground.
Ganna seemed worse off of the two, staying down for a while afterwards and heading to the medical car for attention.
UPDATE
Sadly, with around 70km to go on stage 1, official news has now come through that Filippo Ganna has abandoned the 2025 Tour de France because of the crash and his injuries sustained, meaning disaster has struck the INEOS Grenadiers on stage 1.

- Sometimes they don’t even know what it is, they just need to rail against someone/thing.
