Tadej Pogacar has completed eight almost perfect days at the Criterium du Dauphiné 2025 and will go home to rest before the Tour de France with a very good feeling after 3 stage wins and showing superiority over Jonas Vingegaard in the high mountains. After crossing the finish line with his 99th career victory and his first Dauphiné, he was delighted.
"A really incredible week, today one more day great work from the team, we were able to keep the jersey and now we go happy to each other to finish preparing for the Tour," the yellow jersey said in the flash interview.
On the final stage of the race Jonas Vingegaard attacked and tested the Slovenian, but Pogacar at no times seemed to be in trouble. He crossed the line together with his main rival in relative comfort, looking not to spend too much energy.
"A lot of positive things and all the negatives we're going to turn them into positives, so all good. Now we're going to an altitude camp at Isola 2000, then a few days at home and on to the Tour," Pogacar reveals. "Basically there is not much else to do. Rest after this big week, do some extra time trial work and I'll be ready."
He finished obviously very happy talking about how happy he was to add the Dauphiné in his already luxurious palmarès:
"I came in 2020, it was short because of Covid and it was 5 very hard days, some of the hardest of my career. I hadn't been back since then. I finally did it and I am very happy and proud."
We will continue to report on the evolution of Pogacar in these almost 3 weeks that remain before he returns to face Jonas Vingegaard in what is expected to be another incredible epic battle in the next Tour de France.
