🇫🇷 #ParisRoubaix Fought for what she was worth. 🙌
Although there aren't many races on the calendar that Marianne Vos hasn't won, Paris-Roubaix Femmes remains one of them after the Dutch legend could only sprint to 4th in a thrilling finale to the 2024 edition.
So heavy was the disappointment post-race, a visibly emotional Vos quickly made her way to the team bus. Team Visma | Lease a Bike sports director, Jan Boven however, shared a word with the press, shedding some light onto the mindset of Vos.
"She is our leader, someone who wants to win races. Losing is not an option for her. So now there is also a bit of disappointment, or rather: a lot of disappointment," Boven explains. "Marianne needs some time to sink in, but she can then quickly make an analysis. I know her now and that will stick around for a while. What does she say then? That she did something wrong, but she doesn't swear. I've never heard her do that before. That mistake is taking action too early, perhaps."
"I am disappointed, very disappointed. Next year there will be another chance, but then you will have to wait another 365 days. That's a shame," Vos reflected glumly having composed herself. "In the end I was just beaten, but when you go onto the track for the win it's shit if you really don't get involved. I took the inside bend, but I just didn't have enough speed anymore. Kopecky came around very hard and I fell silent."
