More than just a generational talent on the bike, Tadej Pogacar has long been regarded as one of the most widely liked characters in the peloton. After his home nation of Slovenia was badly affected by mass flooding last year, the three time Tour de France winner has pledged his support.
“It's no secret that I've made a lot of money from cycling in the last few years. When I was younger, I never imagined I would be so lucky; I honestly don't feel the most comfortable with this money. I know how people who struggle and who need help feel," the 25-year-old begins in a video update posted to the official Instagram page of the Tadej Pogacar Foundation.
"My family always taught me to share my happiness and to help people in need. These values are close to me. My great desire is to help," continues the UAE Team Emirates leader, who successes on the bike in 2024 include a first ever Giro d'Italia triumph and the aforementioned third career win at the Tour de France. "We are starting the year after the devastating floods by collecting requests from flood-affected families. People can apply for help via the online or by mail."
