Tim van Dijke's season so far has not been entirely according to his vision and the 6th place at Time Trial Championships is not the kind of result the 25-year-old came for either. But according to his own words, it's a performance that gives him a lot of hope for the summer which should hopefully culminate with a Vuelta a Espana participation.
"This National Time Trial Championship was a nice goal, to see how I would do, also because I had been working on a problem with my body all year, which was bothering me on the time trial bike," revealed Tim van Dijke in an interview with
In de Leiderstrui. "I didn't have any problems with that, so that's going in the right direction. I'm very satisfied."
Mick
Tim van Dijke joined the
Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe along his twin Mick the past winter. But the two barely got to race together in the new team. And summer won't be any different in that regard as Mick heads to his first
Tour de France.
"I really like racing with my twin brother and also with many other guys from the team," Tim highlights. Racing together is fun, but you can't make it to the top while looking back all the time. "Mick and I both ultimately have the goal to go for the highest possible and whether that is with or without a brother, of course it doesn't matter."
Tim may have had a slighty better 2024 season, but his twin has already caught up to him again this spring, he feels. Thus the Tour nomination seems completely deserved to him: "Mick is doing great. He has been training at altitude in Livigno and is doing very well, I am proud of him. He showed good things in Paris-Nice and the Dauphiné."
