Stage 2 

Riley Pickrell and Henri Uhlig abandoned during the stage, with the latter being a victim of a late crash.

Stage 3

The stage saw Thomas Silva not take to the start for Astana, one of the rider who has been in the spotlight over the opening two stages of the race. Harm Vanhoucke and Danny van der Tuuk also did not start. Jay Vine was the only non-finisher of the stage, crashing out in the race where he was making a comeback from a separate injury.
Vine's crash also included Josh Kench, Sergi Darder, Léo Bisiaux and Ivo Oliveira - all of which continued the race however.
In the final kilometer of the stage then, disaster struck as Remco Evenepoel crashed when riding alongside Jonas Vingegaarpid, heading for certain stage win. The Belgian's physical injuries could be more specifically understood later on however following the fall he had several patches of blood and road rash throughout his body - bad signs ahead of the race's decisive stages.
