Stage 2 of the 2024 Tour of Turkey has gone to Max Kanter after a frantic sprint finish in Kaş. For the German, it is a first professional win.
After six riders went clear early on, with 57km to go they were all swallowed up by the peloton on the second categorised climb of the day. Notably struggling and out the back of the peloton however, were the likes of Mark Cavendish and overall race leader, Fabio Jakobsen.
As most of the dropped riders managed to get back into contact on the descent, Jakobsen and Cavendish were notable absentees. Nevertheless, with 20km to go, there was seemingly nothing preventing another bunch sprint finale.
In the sprint for the line, it was Astana Qazaqstan Team's Max Kanter who powered to victory ahead of Henri Uhlig and Tobias Lund Andresen.
