After a Tour de France where he thrived from start to finish, Magnus Cort Nielsen will not be at the start of the 15th stage, sources on site report.
The Danish rider will be the second abandon after Primoz Roglic's earlier this morning. He was present in several breakaways throughout the race so far, leading the KOM classification all the way into the Alps - into stage 9. However, he bounced back on stage 10 to take a strong stage win on the hilly stage into Megève, making EF Education-EasyPost's race.
The American team has since revealed on social media that the Danish rider had been infected with Covid-19 and tested positive ahead of Sunday's stage.
