Primoz Roglic will not be present at the start of the fifteenth stage of the
Tour de France on Sunday. The news was officially confirmed by Jumbo–Visma this morning via social media.
The Slovenian rider has decided to prioritize his recovery from injuries that he suffered in a crash in the cobbled stage to Wallers-Arenberg. “To allow my injuries to heal properly, we have decided that I won’t start today,” said Roglic.
Vingegaard was able to take the yellow jersey thanks to his support. “I’m proud of my contribution to the current standings, and I trust that the team will realize our yellow and green ambitions. Thanks to everybody for your great support,” concluded Roglic. He was 21st in GC, 33 minutes behind his teammate and overall leader, Vingegaard.
He will now refocus on the Vuelta a España where he has won the last three editions, and will once again be facing Tadej Pogacar - aswell as the likes of Giro d'Italia winner Jai Hindley and Richard Carapaz.
