Some national champions have a first taste of glory but others are quite experienced in it and are adding to their palmarès. Amongst those reinforcing their place in the peloton with their country's colours are
Lotte Kopecky,
Bob Jungels and
Ryan Mullen.
Each of them have in the past won this event, the time-trial, on several occasions. In Lotte Kopecky's case, she has now won the event for the seventh time in a row, beating Marthe Goossens and Lotte Claes comfortably. The men's event will take place later this Friday afternoon.
In Luxembourg it was Bob Jungels who soared to victory, winning the time-trial against Alex Kirsch and Arthur Kluckers by a small margin. This however was his ninth triumph - 9 out of his 26 pro wins were in the Luxembourg time-trial. In the women's race it was Marie Schreiber who won the title.
In Ireland Kelly Murphy won the women's race and in the men's event it was Ryan Mullen who took the win, his seventh in the ITT. It was a tight one however as he only held a 6-second margin over George Peden.
