Lidl-Trek's domination of the 2024 Deutschland Tour continued on stage 2 as Mads Pedersen gave the team another victory after a frantic stage, moving into the overall race lead as a result.
Five riders got themselves up the road and into the breakaway on stage 2 of the 2024 Deutschland Tour. Among them, Dario Igor Belletta of Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development and best placed GC wise, Bjoern Koerdt of CC Étupes. With over 40km to go however, their day was already done. Almost as soon as the catch was completed though, a counter attack from Toms Skuijns, Archie Ryan, Kevin Vermaerke and Jorgen Nordhagen moved clear.
With just over 20km to go, the lead group was joined by a second counter attack that included Mads Pedersen, Danny van Poppel and Orluis Aular among others. Inside the final 3km however, this move too was caught by the bunch and in a thrilling finale Mads Pedersen took the win ahead of Anders Johannessen and Archie Ryan.
