Having had a really promising season in 2023, where he took the first victory of his career in Trofeo Andratx at the Challenge Mallorca, Kobe Goossens is yet to get his season underway in 2024, due to an ongoing knee injury that he sustained in a crash at last year’s Vuelta a España.
The Belgian rider underwent two surgeries on his knee last year and believed that the worst of his troubles were behind him, as he began to ride his bike again two months later in November. However, it appears that the issue has relapsed, forcing him to undergo a third surgery that he had last Friday and is currently recovering from.
In a post on his Instagram page, Goossens seemed optimistic, as he wrote that ‘on Friday, I underwent my third knee surgery in five months, after my crash in the Vuelta last year. It should be the last step before we can start the work to comeback on the level I was (and even better) later this year’.
