Jakob Fuglsang's season takes a hit with Epididymitis diagnosis

Following his withdrawal from the UAE Tour two weeks ago due to an inflammation in his left testicle, Jakob Fuglsang has now been diagnosed with epididymitis, which means that he will not return to cycling anytime soon.

Epididymitis is a condition that causes inflammation of the epididymis, and it is often accompanied by scrotal redness, swelling, and pain. Due to this condition, Fuglsang had to be hospitalised and will require a three-week antibiotic treatment before he can resume his training.

The news for his team is not good as they will have to compete without the presence of an experienced climber, with Fuglsang expected to make his comeback in the peloton during the Ardennes classics. The Amstel Gold Race is slated for Sunday, 16 April, over five weeks away, and after that comes the Flèche Wallone and Liège-Bastogne-Liège.

Beginning his season with a modest showing at the UAE Tour, Jakob Fuglsang had anticipated some favourable results in the upcoming races, but he encountered setbacks. On the other hand, the previous year, he had already participated in four races by now, and this propelled him to victory at the Mercan'Tour Classic Alpes-Maritimes.
