Patxi Vila, sport director of Red Bull - BORA hansgrohe, has talked about the objectives of the team led by Primoz Roglic for an exciting 2025, and explained that it was the team's decision to not schedule the Slovenian up for the chance of a record-breaking fifth Vuelta this year.

Speaking to Marca, the team manager gave the reason why Primoz Roglic will not ride the Vuelta a España in 2025 despite the fact that he could become the only rider with five Vuelta GC wins, surpassing Roberto Heras:

"These are priorities of the sponsors and the teams and that's the way it's worked out. On his wish list is to be the rider with the most Vueltas a España but this year the team's decision has been for him to be in the Giro and Tour."

On Oier Lazkano, one of Red Bull's star signings for 2025, he commented the following: "The potential is tremendous and we don't know where it will go. Oier is a clear example of how the development of a cyclist should be. Starting in Caja Rural where he did a very good job both in amateur and professional, passing through Movistar where he has done an exceptional job and now where I think that, especially for the classics, he will have more support".

And the plan with the rider from Alava in the German structure will be to be patient: "Now the first thing is that he adapts well to the team. That's what we're going to focus on during the first part of the season because sometimes it's hard to go from a national team to an international team. Little by little we will improve technical details where we can help him.

Regarding one of the hot topics, Aleix Espargaró, Patxi Vila was curious: "I lack information as well. It's clear that Aleix is passionate about cycling. He has been training for years. He's been given an opportunity and we'll see if he takes advantage of it. He's the first one I think who doesn't know how he is. It's going to be a surprise for everyone. I'm very curious to see how he performs".
