Puck Pieterse has taken the win at
La Fleche Wallonne Femmes 2025, denying
Demi Vollering on the Mur de Huy to take just her second everr professional road victory.
With no real breakaway to speak of, 69km from the line, Anne Knijnenburg of the VolkerWessels Women's Pro Cycling Team attempted a somewhat optimistic long-range solo. Not long after though, Knijnenburg was caught and then dropped by the counter attacking Cedrine Kerbaol. As she summitted the Mur de Huy for the first time, the Frenchman had around 30 seconds advantage over the peloton.
With around 7km to go, Kerbaol's brave solo effort was over as the peloton swept past on the Côte de Cherave. As the fight for position at the front then began ahead of the final ascent of the Mur de Huy, it was Team SD Worx - Protime who won the race to the foot of the climb. As the climbing actually began however, FDJ - Suez quickly took over with Juliette Labous leading out Demi Vollering, riding rival after rival out of her back wheel with every pedal stroke.
On the steepest section of the climb, Vollering herself then took over at the front but the pace wasn't quick enough to deny Puck Pieterse, who soared to one of the biggest road wins of her career so far ahead of the former Tour de France Femmes winner.
Puck was powered by that beer she chugged on the Amstel Gold podium! Nice win!
Puck&Pog then ;-)
The champions of Amstel chugging contest are also the champions of this race. Coincidence? I think not :)
Barney will be asking for doping controls on those beers ;-)
