"I’m going to give my all for Nairo to see if we can achieve the success we are so eager for in the team" - Sergio Samitier on Movistar Team’s objectives at the Tour Colombia

Movistar Team are going into the Tour Colombia with the objective of winning the general classification with Nairo Quintana and a sprint stage with Fernando Gaviria.

One of the team’s climbing domestiques, Sergio Samitier, has made it clear that he will give everything for his team leader, stating that "I’m super happy to be here, I'm going to give my all for Nairo to see if we can achieve the success we are so eager for in the team."

Samitier also spoke about how grateful he is for the reception that the Colombian people have given to the Movistar Team, as he said that "I want to thank the welcome that we Spaniards have had here, enjoying Colombia and all that it entails".

He was asked about being one of the strongest teams in the race (along with EF Education-EasyPost and Astana Qazaqstan) and in his response he said that "we have Nairo and Ivan Ramiro Sosa who I would dare say are two of the best climbers in the world today, we have Fernando Gaviria who must also be the fastest there is, for us it is a great responsibility. We want them to be where they should be, which is at the top".

He was also full of praise for Nairo Quintana, stating that "Nairo you can't imagine how welcoming he is, what a great person he is, apart from being a great cyclist. When I came to the team what surprised me most about him is not that he is a great cyclist, but that he is a great person with a huge heart, he has taught me his land, his people, his culture, I thank him a lot and we will give it back to him on the road".
