"I met Tadej Pogacar..." - Benoit Cosnefroy on first test with UAE and his role with surprise new team
Cycling
UAE Team Emirates - XRG have managed to win almost 100 pro races this year and next season they may achieve that taking into consideration their new signings. Benoît Cosnefroy is a proven winner, and if the Emirati team is able to get the Frenchman into his best form, then he can certainly boost those numbers in the classics and hilly races. He has in the meantime already been able to meet his new team and Tadej Pogacar...
"With my injuries, it complicated the transfer window, but it was the last chance to stay at the highest level," Cosnefroy said in words to La Presse de la Manche. "There was a desire for change, to turn over a new leaf. It's never easy to leave, but I needed a new dynamic. I'm forging my own path, riding for pleasure, and focused on what matters most: myself and those around me."
Decathlon is turning a page in its history and squad, changing leaders fully and having Paul Seixas as their new big hope for the future. Men who've been with the team for a long time such as Nans Peters (retiring), Victor Lafay (considering retirement) and Benoìt Cosnefroy are not going to be part of it anymore. And Cosnefroy, a pure puncheur, has struggled to keep finding success in a World Tour calendar that has less opportunities for his skillset.
Furthermore, with the likes of Pogacar, Evenepoel and more becoming top puncheurs, there are less opportunities for someone like Cosnefroy to perform in the Ardennes and similar races - which become more and more climber-oriented.

But now, Cosnefroy will be on the side of the dominating rider - and team. "I met Tadej Pogacar and everyone else. When you join a team like UAE, you know there will be criticism, but I've also received a lot of support," he admits. "I met Tadej and everyone else; there's a real sense of camaraderie".
His transfer came as a surprise, and a new change of pace for the veteran, who now enters UAE without a certain role he admits: "I don't yet know exactly what my role will be, but I'm confident in what I've found here."Taking into consideration how other puncheurs such as Tim Wellens and Jhonatan Narváez have thrived in the team and even as right-hand men for Pogacar, it will be interesting to see if Cosnefroy could even potentiallt evolve into such a domestique role.

- There was once a time when Lance was supremely popular and he used his artificial "It's Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life" persona to lead his mob in going after Greg. There was no one Lance did not abuse in protecting his phony hero image. Lance promoted himself as a divine megastar and he let down millions of cancer victims and gullible devotees who clung far too long to the charade. Lance is the epitome of a corrupt person and because of his power, many around him, including business enterprises, succumbed to the evil. All who got in Armstrong's way were mercilessly attacked by him and his minions. This remarkably continues today with a new generation. LeMond was a number one enemy and paid a huge price. Who do you think slandered who?Yepperoni03-11-2026

leedorney02-11-2026 - Watch the interview on youtube. I don't speak French. I do speak English and Spanish and you can hear it in his voice. Years ago LeMond had real personal problems I imagine in no small part because of Armstrong. then Armstrong goes round "full blast" re: LeMond having drinking and drug problems. The same way Andreu was expelled from mainstream cycling so was LeMond. On the positive side the clips of the ride and chatting with old teammates and was good. To seemed like a fun day and experience and good reason brush up his French.atom02-11-2026
- and another no-news article around the ‚2 tokyo jogging rounds‘ headline, this time spiced with some days old ‚news‘ that the LA and japan vacation trips come during or after the tdf route release. i am getting more and more annoyed by this time-stealing no-news crap. but who am i to complain? nobody forces me to come back for more ‚news‘ day after day …Ketterechts02-11-2026
- It would likely be a very steep section of 4.1 km, not changing the average gradient considerably, with the climb remaining 10.1 km at 11.8%. It would reach 20% on the gravel. It would start 1.6 km in, and finish with 4.2 km left to climb (before the short final descent)
