After a frantic opening three stages where Tadej Pogacar has been front and centre of all the excitement, can we expect a more reserved Maglia Rosa on stage 4? Probably wouldn't bet on it!
"I just wanted to be in a good position. I didn't think Mikkel Honore was on the attack so I just trying to follow the wheels and taking the opportunities to be at the front," Pogacar reflects of his thrilling attack late on stage 3 in a pre-stage 4 interview with Cycling Pro Net. "I didn't spend so much more energy. I think, when you're in the bunch, stress levels are super high so for me, it's better to be at the front and safe."
Can we expect more Pogacar attacking then on stage 4 or will he finally start trying to conserve some energy with such a big summer of racing still to come? "We'll take it day by day. Today we need to survive, then tomorrow as well and then yeah, we'll start to think about he we spend our energy and how we control the race," he assesses.
When asked if he will follow any late moves on the stage 4 finale, "I hope not," the Slovenian replies with a chuckle. "But I can't promise anything!"
