"I do enjoy coming up with unique victory gestures" - Lorena Wiebes finds extra joy in winning races

With a convincing sprint, Lorena Wiebes won the third stage of the Vuelta a Burgos Feminas with arrival to Melgar de Fernamental. The 25-year-old Dutch finished off the good preparatory work of her Team SD Worx - Protime teammates, who controlled the whole stage for their Dutch sprinter. And the former European champion didn't disappoint.

"I was brought perfectly. It's very nice to get another win in the first stage race of the second part of this season," said Wiebes, who has already managed to raise hands on seven occasions this year, most recently at the Scheldeprijs.

"This win makes me happy. The team did a good job. They kept the escapees under control continuously. Then I got a good lead-out," she praises the overall leader Demi Vollering. "So it was important to finish it off. I'm happy with this win."

"My victory gesture was again a reference to Jan Smit. This time I pictured the song Cupid," Wiebes explains. "I do enjoy coming up with unique victory gestures. Our next goal is to win the general classification in this Vuelta Burgos with Demi."
