Huge setback for Urska Zigart who is struck by illness just 48 hours before start of La Vuelta Femenina

Urska Zigart was set to make her appearance at the first Grand Tour of the 2025 season. However an ill-timed sickness makes it impossible for the Slovenian champion to make it to the starting line of La Vuelta Femenina. Nicole Steigenga is called in as a last-minute substition.

Lining up as one of climbing leaders for AG Insurance - Soudal, Zigart hoped for a shot a stage win in one of the big mountain days. And, maybe somewhere deep withing, even dreamed of a way to sneak into the top-10 of general classification at La Vuelta Femenina.

Zigart has so far only completed nine race days in 2025, including the debut of Milano-Sanremo Women. Her best result is a 14th place from French 1.1 race GP de Chámbery where she participated alongside younger teammates from the AG Insurance U23 team.
