Thymen Arensman stood out at the recent Tour de France when the Dutchman brought home two stage victories in two of the hardest mountain stages of this year's Grande Boucle. The 25-year-old reminded us again that he's still one of the most interesting GC prospects and could improve on his 5th place from 2022 Vuelta in the future. But the question is whether it will be achievable in his current outfit as INEOS Grenadiers seem to be only a shadow of their former self at Grand Tours.
Michael Boogerd considers Brailsford "the biggest hypocrite in cycling," he says in Wielerrevue. The Dutchman points to the cycling team's dominance in the previous decade. The notorically famous Sky Train won seven Tour de France editions within 8 years with four different riders. A remarkable display that sparks controversy to this day.
"If questions are even being asked in the British Parliament about the INEOS doctor, you don't need to have studied mathematics to understand that something was going on.”
Boogerd believes Brailsford knows all the details about the team's past – but that he deliberately chose to victimize people. "Looking at Arensman now, who I think achieved his goals in a very respectable way, I think he should go very quickly," he concludes.
