Jonas Vingegaard put down a real mark of intent on the stage 4 individual time trial at the 2025
Criterium du Dauphiné on Wednesday afternoon, gaining time on all rivals other than the Olympic and World TT champion Remco Evenepoel.
Finishing 2nd on the stage, Vingegaard only lost 20 seconds to the Soudal - Quick-Step leader and as a result, the Dane now sits 5th in the general classification, just 16 seconds down on the Maillot Jaune.
In the time trial, Vingegaard's minute man was his compatriot
Anders Foldager. Speaking to TV2 after crossing the line with the 82nd fastest time of the day, nearly three minutes down on Evenepoel, the
Team Jayco AlUla rider revealed a funny anecdote from the course. “I shouted, ‘Come on!’ And he also said hello to me as he passed," explained Foldager with a smile. "Just as I’d asked him to do when we were chatting before the start.”
With Stage 5 now expected to be quieter day for the GC contenders, the
Team Visma | Lease a Bike leader's hopes of winning the Maillot Jaune and securing a confidence boosting victory ahead of the Tour de France now rest on a massive weekend in the mountains.
