EF Education-EasyPost will be at the Giro d'Italia with a very diverse team who will be focusing on stage wins with different cards, however with the option of fighting for the overall classification with Hugh Carthy who will be hoping to return to his best level.

After finishing eighth last year, Hugh Carthy will be hoping to improve on that career-best result at the Giro d'Italia this year. With the long, steep ascents, the Briton will have a suitable route to his capacity however he hasn't shown his best form yet this season. A possible reason for concern, but at the same time it is possible that he has bid his timing very well towards the Corsa Rosa, having finished ninth at the recent Tour of the Alps in which he's faced several of his rivals who he will be riding with in the mountains.

With Chaves absent from the team, he becomes the team's sole GC leader. The team will likely be eyeing stage wins from breakaways in the mountains, and has a contingent of climbers who can both support him, and look out for their individual goals at the same time: Jonathan Caicedo, Diego Camargo, Merhawi Kudus and Simon Carr.

Magnus Cort Nielsen will be the other team leader, eyeing the sprints but also the hilly stages in which he has good chances of succeeding. He's coming back from injury which he sustained at Tirreno-Adriatico, and said that he's eyeing the final week in for his best form. Owain Doull and Julius van den Berg will both support the Dane in the sprints and protect Carthy in the flat stages in order to remain in contention for the overall.
