The 2026 Giro d’Italia classifications will evolve day by day over three weeks of racing, from the Grande Partenza in Bulgaria to the final stage in Rome, between 8 May and 31 May. Every summit finish, sprint stage, breakaway, and time trial has the potential to reshape the fight for the Maglia Rosa and the Giro’s other jerseys.
This live classifications hub will be updated after each stage of the Giro d’Italia with the latest General Classification, Points Classification, Mountains Classification, and Best Young Rider rankings. As the race develops, this page will track every major movement in the battle for pink, ciclamino, azzurro, and white.
From Jonas Vingegaard’s Maglia Rosa challenge to Jonathan Milan’s fight for ciclamino, this page will follow every major standings change across all four jersey competitions throughout the 2026 Giro d’Italia.

General Classification Standings after Stage 16

This was an important day for the race's overall classification, perhaps even the most important of the race so far. Giulio Pellizzari suffered early on the climb to Carì and has dropped out of GC contention. The Italian has not had a perfect race, marked by an untimely illness, and today has let go of his ambitions and lost enough time to almost drop out of the Top20.
Jonas Vingegaard in the meantime won, on the road alone, over 1 minute on his most direct rivals and extended his bugger in the fight for the pink jersey extensively. It is a gap of 4:03 minutes on Felix Gall now.
But the fight for the podium is tight and exciting. Gall leads Thymen Arensman by a mere 24 seconds and Jai Hindley by 57 seconds. All of this time can only be recovered in the mountains now, with Hindley being the rider with the pressure on his shoulders to attack.
Afonso Eulálio descended to fifth, however remains vividly in the Top10 after a strong performance on the day. Derek Gee has climbed from ninth to sixth with his best climbing performance of the race so far; overtaking Michael Storer who remains seventh but sees also the approach of Visma's Davide Piganzoli. Ben O'Connor had a bad day and descended to ninth; and is now threatened by both Egan Bernal and Mathys Rondel - whilst Chris Harper is less than 2 minutes away from his position as well. Jan Hirt notably also lost meaningful time and has fell out of GC contention.

Points Classification Standings after Stage 16

The maglia ciclamino was expected to change hands today, with less than 15 points separating Paul Magnier and Jhonatan Narváez. The UAE rider managed to get himself in the breakaway of the day as planned and passed the first intermediate sprint first; but with the attacks up front he wasn't able to keep himself in front and missed out on a potential 15-point sprint. A big hit, which meant he did not score enough to go over Magnier.
The next days do still favour Narváez, with the two now only separated by a mere two points; but the final sprint in Rome favours Magnier heavily and so only overtaking will not be enough for the Ecuadorian.

King of the Mountains Standings after Stage 16

In a race where the format fully favours the GC specialists, it comes as no surprise to see Jonas Vingegaard still in the lead. Giulio Ciccone got himself in the breakaway of the day and sprinted for first place in all four climbs early in the day, earning him 54 points. However Jonas Vingegaard, with the final climb alone, managed to earn 50 points without making any specific KOM point pursuit.
Although Ciccone did slightly close the gap today, Vingegaard's victories on every single summit finish of the race have earned him 200 points in total - plus 11 he conquered in the opening days of the race. Hence Vingegaard stays in the lead with 211 points, against Ciccone's 129. The Italian does still stand a chance of taking the lead (although he will for now borrow the jersey) but will need a perfect stage 19 raid in the Dolomites and hopes that Vingegaard will not score much for the rest of the race.

Youth Classification Standings after Stage 16

Perhaps the classification that was most heavily affected today. Afonso Eulálio remains in the lead, but has taken a very important step towards winning the white jersey. By no means it will be an easy task, but Giulio Pellizzari has cracked out of contention and is no longer a rival for the Bahrain - Victorious rider.
However the looming threat of Davide Piganzoli will mean that there can still be a change, with 2:17 minutes separating the two; whilst Mathys Rondel is 4:23 minutes away and also remains a very real threat to both World Tour riders.

Teams Classification Standings after Stage 16

Pellizzari's demise has seen massive gaps emerge in this classification. BORA no longer had their depth at work, and so Jonas Vingegaard and Davide Piganzoli's performance - alongside Sepp Kuss a bit further down - has created a gap that will be very hard to close back down. 13 minutes is now the difference between the two, with the rest of the teams unlikely to be able to catch up with the Dutch team.
