Incredibly, in just 17 race days in 2024, Tadej Pogacar has added the grand total of 10 wins to his palmares. The latest of which came on stage 8 of the Giro d'Italia as the UAE Team Emirates leader further strengthened his grip on the Maglia Rosa.
Somewhat more surprising than the fact he won however, is how Pogacar triumphed. Instead of launching another blistering attack that left all his rivals peddling squares, the Slovenian rode within himself, following attacks before sprinting to victory from a reduced bunch.
Despite the relative calmness of Pogacar however, there was still damage to a number of top-10 riders at the start of the day. The likes of Alexey Lutsenko, Filippo Zana and Luke Plapp suffered hefty time losses, dropping out of the top-10. The biggest benefactor of Plapp's explosion was Team Visma | Lease a Bike's Cian Uijtdebroeks who regains the White Jersey.
Daniel Martinez also gained some seconds on his rivals, extending his lead over Geraint Thomas in the race for 2nd place to 18 seconds. See the full top-10 down below!
