Me rompo las manos a aplaudir a Alaphilippe. Le han criticado, han señalado a su mujer y hace tiempo que no es el que era. En este Giro está dando una lección de persistencia increíble y no ha parado hasta que ha dado en el clavo. Chapeau. 🎩👏
Everything pointed to stage 12 of the Giro d'Italia 2024 to be an exciting day of cycling from start to finish, and it finally lived up to expectations. Julian Alaphilippe took the win with an attack 125 km from the finish line that kept him in the head of the race until the end of the day, where he crossed the finish line alone. However, the overall classification remained intact in its Top 10, with Tadej Pogacar in the pink jersey, despite dangerous breakaway attempts.
Stage 12 turned out to be, as expected, an unpredictable day. Jan Hirt, Domenizo Pozzovivo, Juan Pedro López and Davide Piganzoli all tried to take advantage of the fact that it was a day suited to the breakaway so as to gain time on the overall classification. Ultimately, this did not work out as Bahrain - Victorious kept the main breakaway group under control and brought it back before the final cloimb.
In the final climb BORA - hansgrohe looked to try and set up an attack, but all the GC riders remained conservative. Hence, no differences were created in the GC as the Top10 all arrived together in a relatively large GC group.
Tadej Pogacar continues in the lead of the Giro, ahead of Daniel Martínez and Geraint Thomas who are 2:40 and 2:56 minutes behind respectively.
