As the Tour de France draws near, Movistar Team and Enric Mas get ready for what is one of the main goals of the season. The Spaniard finished sixth last year, followed by a second place at the Vuelta a España, and will be looking to replicate or improve his results from 2021.
Last year he finished 11th at the race, having taken the same preparation route towards the Tour. Form will likely be the main objective for Mas over the coming week, although Movistar Team must also ensure results in order to stay safe at World Tour level. The Spanish team will also likely be eyeing stages in the mountains and hilly stages which will come aplenty with Matteo Jorgenson, Carlos Verona, Gorka Izagirre and Gregor Mühlberger.
It is likely that this block will be traveling to the Tour de France afterwards, as it contains regular figures at the Tour, support for Mas and is specifically built out of riders who have not been at the Giro d'Italia. Imanol Erviti and Mathias Norsgaard will be providing support on the flat roads aswell as taking up the road captain role.
