Ellen van Dijk to return to racing 5 months after giving birth - "My level of training is better than I could have wished for"

Lidl-Trek's Ellen van Dijk announced her pregnancy earlier this year and gave birth in early October. With the Olympic Games in her mind as a big goal for the 2024 season and great feedback from training, the Dutchwoman already has a date in mind to resume racing in the peloton.

"Announcement: my level of training is better than I could have wished for after giving birth, so we decided that I will return to the peloton on the 8th of March in Vuelta Extremadura," the former World time-trial Champion announced in a social media post. "I'm already looking forward to race again!" Only just over two months away from today the 36-year should resume racing as she looks to rebuild her best form in time for the summer where she should be a contender for the gold medal in the time-trial event in Paris.
