We might only be in April, but already, there is a growing swirl of transfer rumours beginning to emerge online as teams plan for the 2026 season. One of the latest and most interesting rumours discusses the rumoured interest of EF Education-EasyPost in one of Soudal - Quick-Step's stars of the future.
Luke Lamperti has impressed in his early career, adding 5 professional victories to his palmares and already making a Grand Tour debut at the Giro d'Italia for 'The Wolfpack' back in 2024. So far this season, the 22-year-old American has podium finishes at Nokere Koerse and the Bredene Koksijde Classic, continuing to show positive signs of his undoubted promise.
Could he soon be leaving Soudal - Quick-Step though? The Belgian-based team have made a noted change in tactics over recent years, moving further and further away from their Classics roots and attempting to become a competitive GC team. Is Lamperti now set to be the latest casualty in the changing focus of the once almighty 'Wolfpack'?
Well, according to the respected Ciro Scognamiglio of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the EF Education-EasyPost team are very much interested in snapping up the American prospect. "Luke Lamperti - now with Soudal Quick-Step - is a possible signing for EF Education-EasyPost from next season, sources just confirmed us," reports the Italian in a post to his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Lamperti wouldn't be the first rider to make that particular move in recent seasons. Kasper Asgreen swapped Soudal - Quick-Step for EF Education-EasyPost at the start of the current season, although the Dane is yet to make a real impact with his new employers. Arguably, the signing of top American prospect Lamperti would make perfect sense for the United States based EF team as well. A rumour to perhaps keep an eye on in the coming months.
